"In their hands" - State of Victoria, DEECD

Let's make this simple ... post your reflective learning question here!

Feel free to give us more details but the idea is to just see as many questions as possible and then start some conversations around them.

In 2008 we developed a grade 5/6 wiki for all students at Ranfurly Primary School. Initially we found it a great tool to direct students to learning tasks such as DigiLearn etc. As a unit we decided that each classroom would have a wiki page. This has been important in developing teacher confidence to use this tool. The aim is to utilise the wiki to allow students to collaborate and have a central point that we can direct them to new learning.

The question that we developed as a team is:
How can we use a wiki as a device to support student collaboration, teamwork, reflection and as a source of information and knowledge?

Hello Brodie,
Thanks for sharing. Are your students members of the wiki? And is the wiki private or public? Do you think it matters?

Hey Darrel,

All students are members of the wiki. Each student has been allocated a page that they must use responsibly. Pages are used in the class to reflect and complete writing tasks on individual students pages.
The grade 5/6 wiki is public and most classroom pages are public. Here is a link to one of the classroom wiki pages http://rps10.wikispaces.com/ One teacher has chosen to keep the class wiki private because the students have put images and personal profiles on individual pages. In choosing to make your wiki either private of public I guess it depends on what you plan to put on pages and whether or not you plan to use it as a shared resource/place for parents and teachers to view student work.
