I plan to use Sketch up in science to design animal enclosures. But reading the comments there is so much more, just need more time to learn some of it first.
Hi Lee. Sketch up is really good. As you take these kids for maths as well there are some great maths tasks that can be used. In the took bar is a ruler as well as a protractor. You could set a task for students to make an enclosure that is ????m high, ????long and has a depth of ????m. You could also have them make the enclosure with certain angles or perhaps make two or more enclosures that have to be 30% bigger than the previous one etc. Plenty of activities. I am sure you will learn the program along with them - as often they know more than we do. Let us know how you get on.
I just found Daryl's video on Sketch up 7 in the video link on this ning, fabulous for a quick tour, will save heaps of time working out how the thing works.
Animoto.com is quick little movie maker check out mrst.globalteacher.org.au for an example. I'm going to use this as a memory quiz as well as a lead into classification.
cheers.
