Great post Rob. it is very important to recognise the work that Ultranet coaches have been doing out in the sticks. The Ultranet coaches the ones that are making the most effective contact and I really appreciate your commitment to the trial. As I h…

What is your current role in education?
I am the Loddon Mallee 1-to-1 netbook trial manager.
What is your involvement in the 1-to-1 netbook trial?
As project manager my role is about supporting the work of schools, teachers, students and parents in enhancing student learning through the use of ict.
Describe some ways that this ning might help you to successfully implement the 1-to-1 netbook trial in your school or region?
By creating an online environment that connects teachers throughout the region and the world I hope that we will see some powerful collaboration and examples of project based learning that make real connections for our students.

Getting support

The netbooks for schools in the Loddon Mallee region are going to be rolled out on or around February . This is a very exciting time for us but also a real challenge for both teachers and students. DEECD is planning to offer as much support as they can and one of the things they are creating is a wiki especially designed for teachers and schools involved in the 1-to-1 netbook project. I have added a tab at the top of this ning which will take you straight to it. Alternatively ,just go to this li… Continue

Hi Anne, I'm going well. How are you? And yes, we had out catch up session with Neville on Thursday - we're so sorry for missing the real one a couple of weeks ago. We never actually heard that it was on (Chris must have had a busy week :-). Anyway, we are all up to date now. Do you know anything about the 5-6 showcase days in Bendigo next week? I think we will be attending to see what the kids have been up to...

Hi Anne
Only just starting to realise the potential for using Web 2.0 technology for English - the incoming netbooks are a great catalyst. Not sure what you are after in the way of resources? As part of the PLPnetbook trial another collegue and I are thinking we will develop a project that will look at use of blogs and wikis in encouraging peer and self assessment in creative writing.

Hey Anne,
They never come off. I'm starting to be a bit like Bono from U2.
I didn't realise how good nings were. Kind of like facebook a little.
I might make one for my grade. I think the kids would like it.

We have started using Scratch with Brian Fitches which I am going to incorporate in to our theme on Cartoons and Comedy this term with students storyboarding a cartoons which they will tehn create and animate on Scratch and adding sound - some students have recorded their own songs or sound effects using their netbook mics and others using headphone mics.

Hi Anne,
I'm looking forward to the session in Bendigo. The links to the Wedderburn site are wonderful, certainly a huge journey in education since i was teaching there back in 1985, 86, 87
See you next week
